Japanese gardening (日本の園芸） コミュニティ

Am happy to announce that a new English-language community is now launched to discuss or ask about plants of Japanese origin or plants loved among Japanese in Meiji period or earlier such as asagao (Morning glory) and gardening which use them.
Focus will not be placed on beautiful “flowers” per se because it is always the best to have the flowers right in front of you and not to see them through the Internet screen. Rather, I wish this to be a channel to discuss or exchange the seeds of Japanese plants for the purpose of preserving them. I think it is regrettable that plants of domestic origin are not being widely handled even in the most popular gardening magazine of NHK’s “Shumi no Engei. (Gardening as a hobby?) in the country full of thousands of indigenous plants.
Anybody interested in Japanese plants, whether residing in Japan or elsewhere, will be welcome.
